Singapore Brand is ‘Clear Overall Winner’ in the Sports Recovery Market

Popular Singaporean wellness platform, The Wellness Insider, took a look at the recently launched HYDRAGUN, the next-generation recovery solution for runners, fighters and anyone who wants to take their sport to the next level.

The Wellness Insider founder Melissa Fann subjected HYDRAGUN to an apples-to-apples test versus current market competitors. Fann pitted HYDRAGUN against popular American brand, Hypervolt, and an off-brand Chinese OEM device. Which came out on top?

On a scale of 1 to 10, she rated the massage guns based on cost, the good and the not-so-good features. The results came out with the new kid on the block emerging as the “clear over-all winner”.

With a total score of 9.5/10, HYDRAGUN’s almost perfect score blew away the competition.

(Find out how the other massage guns scored in Melissa’s review.)

HYDRAGUN scored points for the following features-

  • Quietness
  • Ergonomic 99° Handle
  • Nanoscale Silicon Material
  • Stainless Steel Heads
  • 6 Speeds
  • Torque and Percussive Power

The quietness of HYDRAGUN was praised by Fann and everyone else at the TWI office that tested it. With many complaints against the chief competitor centered on noise levels, the relative noiselessness of HYDRAGUN was a lovely surprise. Fann particularly liked that she can, “happily watch my TV and hear it while massaging myself.”

Another plus point is the massage gun handle. Majority of massage guns in the market come with a 90° handle. The extra 9° on the HYDRAGUN provided the “most optimal angle alignment between your forearm, wrist and the gun.” This made the massage session effective and more comfortable.

The nanoscale silicon material eliminated stickiness and was much preferable to the latex that many other brands are made with.

But perhaps the most beneficial feature for Fann and her team is the stainless-steel head. HYDRAGUN comes with 6 swappable attachment heads – 4 regular and 2 stainless steel. For Fann, the steel heads made for a smoother glide while using the device over a shirt.

One more feature that differentiates HYDRAGUN from other massage guns is the speed variations. While many other guns come with 2 to 4 speed levels, HYDRAGUN comes with 6. This is beneficial for people with very low and very high pain thresholds, allowing them to choose the intensity of their massage.

As for percussive power, HYDRAGUN subtly beats the alternative, improving the experience from the usual “pummeling” feeling. Instead, it provides a more focused and yet deeper penetrating power. Fann attests to HYDRAGUN’s superior capability and credits it for her shorter recovery time after her workout. “(W)ith HYDRAGUN, I was surprised that the ache lessened considerably the next morning and I was back to normal by evening!”

Cost-wise, HYDRAGUN is in the middle of the pack. But, it’s still S$200 less than the top foreign option.

This and the many other superior features have made a fan out of Melissa Fann and led her to declare HYDRAGUN as the best value-for-money option in the sports recovery niche.

HYDRAGUN was developed by CEO Aloysius Chay. Needing a way to recover faster from the physical stresses of Muay Thai, Chay spent months of research and testing before discovering massage guns. Firmly believing that recovery is the key to breakthroughs, HYDRAGUN was developed and hit the Singaporean market on 7 August 2020.
